North Charleston Police investigate shooting death

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - North Charleston Police are investigating the death of 19 year old Dionta Rashad Cochran outside of 7680 Desmond Avenue. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood talking with residents as well as individuals who may have been in the area during the incident. Investigators are also following up on leads and tips.

As the investigation continues detectives have made two arrests: Justin Townsend of North Charleston has been charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number and Eric Smith of North Charleston has been charged with Obstruction of Justice (hindering & obstructing a criminal investigation).

At this time a murder suspect has not been identified. The investigation continues and anyone with information on the homicide should contact North Charleston Police at 554-5700 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
