North Charleston Police make three arrests in drug busts

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - The North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) made two drug busts Wednesday, July 1, 2009 after searching two North Charleston homes.

NCPD Narcotics officers executed a search warrant at 2765 Houston Street on Wednesday and found 72.5 grams of cocaine base, .7 grams of cocaine and a gun inside the home. According to Spencer Pryor, NCPD public information officer, the drugs have a street value of approximately $7,320.

Bernard Weiters, Jr., 34, is charged with trafficking cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a stolen firearm and possession with intent do distribute cocaine and cocaine base within a half-mile of a school.

NCPD Officers also searched a home at 2476 East Surrey Street and seized 207 grams of heroin, worth an approximate street value of $72,450, and 5.4 grams of cocaine.

Howard Scott, 45, of Jersey City, N.J., is charged with trafficking heroin and possession with intent to distribute heroin within a half-mile of a school.

Anthony Brown, 45, of North Charleston, is charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine within a half-mile of a school.
